Thomas C. McCall (1827-1892) was born in Ohio and came to Iowa with his parents in 1836. He lived in Des Moines and Nevada and was a government land and real estate agent. During the Civil War he served as Quartermaster in the 3rd Iowa Regiment. After the war he became a leader in Republican circles in Story County, serving as a member of the 9th (1865), 19th (1884), and 20th (1885) assemblies, and as a member of the state central committee of the Republican Party.
